I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors of Parentis Foundation. Its nationally recognized Empowering Readers OC program provides one-on-one reading support and mentorship at no cost to families with students in grades 1–5.

This school year, we expect to serve more than 550 children who are struggling to read. As many of our partner schools and after school youth organizations face funding challenges, your support can help ensure that no child loses access to the literacy support they need.

Parentis Foundation Story

Why It Matters: When school funding gets cut and budgets shrink, who ensures children in Orange County still receive the literacy support they need to thrive? You do. We do. Together, our community does.

The Challenge: This year, some of our program partners, especially those in high-impact communities, have lost the discretionary funding that once supported literacy programs like ours. Without additional support, many children could lose access to the consistent mentorship that helps them grow into confident and joyful readers – and future leaders!

The Solution: Us. We may not control budgets, but we can control how we show up as a community. Together, we can bridge the gap so every child has the chance to succeed.
