I am the Vice Chair, Board Member with Empowering Readers OC, a program of Parentis Foundation that provides free to families, 1:1 tutoring and mentorship to 1st–5th grade students. Many of our partner schools are facing funding challenges—This coming school year, we are on target to serve over 550 students struggling to read!
We are working hard to bridge these funding gaps, so no child loses access to the help they need.

Parentis Foundation Story
Why It Matters: When school funding gets cut and budgets shrink, who ensures children in Orange County still receive the literacy support they need to thrive? You do. We do. Together, our community does.
The Challenge: This year, some of our program partners, especially those in high-impact communities, have lost the discretionary funding that once supported literacy programs like ours. Without additional support, many children could lose access to the consistent mentorship that helps them grow into confident and joyful readers – and future leaders!
The Solution: Us. We may not control budgets, but we can control how we show up as a community. Together, we can bridge the gap so every child has the chance to succeed.
