Help Me Continue My Mom Teri’s Legacy of Literacy

In loving memory of my mom, Teri Chuppe, I am raising funds for Parentis Foundation’s Empowering Readers OC program, an organization that brought her great joy and purpose.

My mom became a volunteer Reading Mentor in 2023, providing virtual, one-on-one literacy support to students at Edward B. Cole Sr. Academy. Although she lived in Carlsbad, she made it a priority to attend the end-of-year celebrations in person so she could meet the children she had encouraged and celebrate their reading success. She believed every child deserved encouragement, opportunity, and someone who believed in their potential.

I recently joined the Parentis Foundation Board of Directors, and I am honored to continue my mom’s commitment to this important mission. Through my board service, I hope to help more children experience the encouragement, confidence, and love of reading that she worked so faithfully to inspire.

Please consider making a gift in my mom’s memory. Your donation will help provide young readers with caring mentors and the literacy support they need to succeed in school and create brighter futures.

Thank you for helping our family honor her kindness, generosity, and commitment to serving others. Through every child who discovers a love of reading, her legacy will live on.

With gratitude,
Walker Chuppe

Parentis Foundation Story

Why It Matters: When school funding gets cut and budgets shrink, who ensures children in Orange County still receive the literacy support they need to thrive? You do. We do. Together, our community does.

The Challenge: This year, some of our program partners, especially those in high-impact communities, have lost the discretionary funding that once supported literacy programs like ours. Without additional support, many children could lose access to the consistent mentorship that helps them grow into confident and joyful readers – and future leaders!

The Solution: Us. We may not control budgets, but we can control how we show up as a community. Together, we can bridge the gap so every child has the chance to succeed.

Every gift matters. Every session matters. Every reader matters.

Will you help us bridge the gap?
